Fear of the Dark is the ninth studio album by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on May 11, 1992.
The record marked a significant milestone for the band, as it was the last studio album they would record with Bruce Dickinson until their reunion and the recording of the album *Brave New World* in 2000. Bruce was replaced in 1994 by an old acquaintance of the band, Blaze Bayley.
While the album artwork had previously been handled by Derek Riggs—up to and including the preceding album, *No Prayer for the Dying*—this time the task fell to another English illustrator, Melvyn Grant.
The album reached number one on the British charts and led to a tour that, for the first time, included South American countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The concert scheduled for Santiago, Chile, on July 23, 1992, was cancelled due to political and religious pressure in the country.
